Incubators

PreviousNext

Sudan, MENA, and Africa regional incubators — programs with smaller checks, hometown signal, hands-on mentorship. Distinct from global accelerators by geography and scope.

This doc is the regional incubator inventory for Sudan, MENA, and Africa. Global brand-name accelerators (YC, Techstars, Sanabil 500, Hub71) live in Accelerators. Non-dilutive grants live in Grants. Hackathons and pitch competitions live in Competitions.

Last verified: 2026-05-18.

Executive summary

Regional incubators give us things that global accelerators can't: hometown signal, on-the-ground mentor networks, local press, and partnerships with regional banks/ministries that already know us. Checks are smaller (€5K-€50K typically) but the local pull is asymmetrically valuable for a Sudanese-founded, MENA-operating EdTech.

Our position:

  • Sudanese-founded team post-2023-conflict era — applies to Sudan and MENA reconstruction lanes.
  • King Fahad Schools pilot in Sudan — already proves field-deployment in the target market.
  • Arabic-first product — natural fit for AR-language-focused programs.
  • Open-source codebase — increasingly accepted by MENA regional programs.

Sudan context (anchor)

MetricValue
Children out of school17M
Days of learning lost500+
Schools reopened (Khartoum, Feb 2026)~35%
UNESCO Transitional Education Plan budget$580M

This is the lane that the Sudan-focused programs care about most. We are the working OSS school OS that can be deployed at scale during reopening — and we already have a pilot live.

Selection criteria

Apply if at least two of these are true:

  1. The program is anchored in a country where we have an existing pilot, founder, or contributor.
  2. The check or in-kind support compensates for the time cost of a 3-12 month program.
  3. The mentor / network value is asymmetrically useful (regional bank, ministry, telco intros).
  4. Equity ask is < 10% or zero.
  5. The program does not require us to abandon Arabic-first or open-source positioning.

Application priority (rank-ordered)

  1. Orange Corners Sudan — non-dilutive €5K seed + €50K growth path; Sudanese-team eligibility; partner network already linked to our work (Bank of Khartoum, Haggar, El Nefeidi, UCB, CTC); rolling cohort intake.
  2. MSAR Hackathon 2026 — hometown signal; reaches Sudanese ecosystem; cross-links to media + investor network.
  3. Injini — Africa's only dedicated EdTech accelerator; Sudanese-founder eligibility likely; thesis-aligned.
  4. Impact Hub Khartoum — relationship anchor in Sudan ecosystem; signals serious commitment to Sudan as a market.
  5. AfriLabs — Impact Hub Khartoum is a member; cross-network access; rolling RFPs we can opportunistically apply to.
  6. Founders Factory Africa — operator-embedded model; useful if a specific cohort matches our thesis.
  7. MEST Africa — annual cycle; Africa-network value.
  8. Oasis500 / Falak / AUC Venture Lab — opportunistic; apply when in-country travel makes sense.

Why we fit (per top program)

Orange Corners Sudan

Why we fit
Working OSS school OS — most applicants pitch concepts; we demo software running today on kingfahad.databayt.org.
Sudan-relevant in the most direct sense — schools are reopening with zero digital infrastructure.
Pricing model defined + paid-conversion target documented in Pilot.
Multi-tenant isolation + Arabic-first + AI integrations — same depth as global startups but built for our market.
Open source aligns with community-development and transparency values.

Application checklist:

  • Apply via 249startups.com/orangecorners.
  • Business plan summary — port from Business model.
  • 12-month financial projections — port from Investors.
  • Demo link: ed.databayt.org + demo.databayt.org.
  • Founder CV / LinkedIn — see Data Room §G.
  • Pitch deck — port from Deck.
  • Use of €5K seed grant — see allocation table below.
  • Growth plan for €50K phase.

Seed grant allocation (€5,000):

Marketing materials€800Demo videos, brochures (AR / EN)
Legal and registration€1,000Business registration, contracts
Operating reserve€1,0002-month buffer

MSAR Hackathon 2026

Why we fit
Working product, not a deck — most hackathons pitch concepts; we demo a 4,912-file production codebase.
Sudan-relevant — schools reopening with zero infrastructure means education is the most immediate need.
Revenue-ready — pricing model defined; MENA-10 pilot cohort framework active with first pilot live.
Technical depth — multi-tenant isolation, Arabic-first i18n, AI integrations (Anthropic, OpenAI).
Open source — aligns with community development and transparency.

Application checklist:

  • Register on masar.sd.
  • Submit project description (Arabic) — port from Pitch.
  • Prepare a 3-minute pitch video (Arabic).
  • Demo link: ed.databayt.org.
  • Team info — see Data Room.
  • Business model summary — port from Business model.

Injini

Why we fit
Africa's only dedicated EdTech accelerator — direct sector fit.
Sudanese-founder eligibility likely (Africa-broad).
Pan-African network is the next geographic expansion lane after MENA.
Thesis-aligned: scalable school infrastructure for emerging markets.

Cross-program competitive advantage

DimensionHogwarts edge
ProductLive, not a deck. 4,912 TS/TSX files, 52 tests, 1 paying pilot.
Open sourceSchools inspect the code; community contributes; no vendor lock-in.
PricingFree tier up to 100 students; Pro $1.50/student/month.
i18nArabic-first from day one, RTL-native.
ArchitectureMulti-tenant — onboarding takes minutes.
StackNext.js 16, React 19, TypeScript 5 — not legacy.

Application workflow

For each program:

  1. Send a cold-program-manager email (T2 or T3 AR-first in Outreach) BEFORE formal submission. Programs prefer warm starts.
  2. Adapt deck + 1-pager to the program's filter — Orange Corners cares about Sudan-impact; Injini cares about EdTech-specific scaling.
  3. Confirm references are reachable from the program's IP region.
  4. Submit formal application via the program's portal.
  5. Follow-up cadence — D+7, D+14 (T10, T11 in Outreach).
  6. Log status in the table above and Data Room.

What we won't accept

  • Programs that require us to abandon Arabic-first or open-source positioning.
  • Pay-to-pitch / application-fee programs > $50.
  • Programs that demand sector pivots (e.g., "drop EdTech, work on fintech").
  • Programs whose only deliverable is "exposure" with no capital, mentorship, or network.
